Building a competitive business with apprenticeships

Apprenticeships

In an increasingly competitive environment, successful businesses know that, whatever their size, to continue thriving they must develop and maintain a skilled and motivated workforce.

You need staff with the right skills to suit your particular business requirements, and the inspiration to provide a real and relevant contribution.

That’s where the Apprenticeship programme can help.

It is a work based training initiative for young people aged 16-24 that leads to nationally recognised qualifications at NVQ Levels 2 and 3 (Click here to see an explanation of qualifications). And it is designed to focus on practical job skills, which will benefit your organisation.

Apprenticeships are based on training from a national framework designed by business people with the needs of individual sectors in mind, retaining and updating the best of the Apprenticeship tradition.

There are over 100 training frameworks spanning a diverse and comprehensive range of sectors from management to manufacture, carpentry to care, IT to security.

The training is funded by your local Learning and Skills Council (LSC), who contract with training organisations to train your apprentices, each provider is rigorously inspected on quality and compliance to nationally recognised standards. They will help develop your staff through a structured but flexible work based training programme, tailored to the needs of your business and the abilities of your employees.

Your business will benefit from:

  • On the job skills training tuned to your specific business needs
  • Increased staff retention and motivation
  • Support from experienced Training Providers
